Antoni van Leeuwenhoek
Study Association Antoni van Leeuwenhoek is the student society for the master programs BioMedical Engineering and BioMechanical Design* at the Delft University of Technology. The society was founded in January 2006, shortly after the initiation of the master programs. Ever since, the society has rapidly developed with increasing numbers of members, activities, excursions, tours and study cases throughout the academic year. To date, the society counts more than 600 members, ranging from 1st years to 3rd years master students. The master brings together students from many different backgrounds (i.e. different bachelors of science) and different nationalities. The society aims to bond these students together and give them insight into their career possibilities.
Three focus points
Career
As a Study Association for master students, we aim to help students find their next steps after graduation. We do this by facilitating contact between companies and students.
Education
As the intermediary between students and the coordinators of both masters, we aim to improve the education. We do this by organizing feedback panels and studydays.
Social
As BME and BMD are interdisciplinair programs, we support students to connect with each other during their masters. We do this by organizing social activities.

Committees
AvL has 3 active committees that all carry very different tasks. These committee members all commit 1 year to fulfilling these tasks. In addition, the committees consist of fun groups that also do a lot of fun things together! When composing the committees, an attempt is made to have an even split between BME and BMD students. The committees are all supported by 2 board members of AvL.
